Saving Money With Disposable Razors On Ebay
by: Matthew Bezahler (this was my first published article)

The brand does not matter, be it Gillette, Schick or other name brands. At most retail stores and pharmacies you can expect to pay anywhere from $2.00 to $4.50 per cartridge. For those of us who have to shave everyday this can lead to a huge expense and really requires adding razors to your monthly budget. Once, I heard a friend tell me how I can save a lot of money by buying those same razors off of Ebay. I had my doubts, but I was proven wrong.

Let us look at a brand of razors I am currently using. At my local pharmacy an 8 pack of Gillette Mach 3 Turbo is listed for $19.99 which gives you an average price of about $2.50 a cartridge. A 4 pack of those same razors is sold for $13.49 for an average price of about $3.37 a razor. Stores are required to list their items at set quantity or weight for comparison. I have seen razors listed as per 100 count. Given the amounts I just averaged, that is either $250 or $337 per 100 razors! For those of us average middle class men, that cost can really add up.

On Ebay you may be hard pressed to find 8 packs and 4 packs as it is not worth the sellers' resources after shipping, Ebay fees and other costs that listing may incur. The good news is you can find quantities of 16 cartridges and up, which could be sold as (4) 4 packs or (2) 8 packs. We will look at using Buy It Now so auction prices do not become a factor. I have found 16 cartridges for $16.75 plus $5.99 for shipping for a grand total of $22.74. This would make our average cost per cartridge about $1.42. But buying in bigger quantities does have its advantages here. I have now found a 32 count of razors for $42 with Free Shipping. That gives us an average cost per cartridge of $0.76!!! Taking those numbers and using the per 100 count, we get amounts of $142 and $76 respectively. That gives us a saving of $261 when we compare the price of the 4 pack from the pharmacy and the 32 razors with free shipping.

You can see how this can add up very quickly. I of course recommend checking out the Ebay seller's rating and reading some feed back to be sure you are buying AUTHENTIC brand name razors and not knock offs or compatible cartridges.

I hope that this tip can save you a lot of money that most of us work very hard for.
